Court Approves Google Inc.'s $6 Million Settlement of TCPA Group Texting Suit

I've been following actions associated with the Telephone Communication Protection Act (TCPA) for quite some time.  The TCPA has a number of legislative rules associated with marketing, a key one affects marketers use of text messaging. Marketers are not allowed to use auto-dialers, they are perceived as systems that generate SPAM.   In certain conditions a text messaging services may be flagged with the auto-dialer label.   

 

On June 26 Google settled a a class action lawsuit for $6M.  The lawsuit contended that a group text messaging service, Swipe, created unwanted text messages, i.e. SPAM, through SWIPE's group texting service.
